Nikki Powis, Training and Technical Assistance Manager
Nikki Powis has worked within the Workforce Development field for over 30 years. She has spent the past 5 years dedicated to providing Technical Assistance and training to Vocational Rehabilitation agencies across the nation under the Workforce Innovation Technical Assistance Center (WINTAC). Previously Nikki worked for the Alaska Department of Labor AKDOL overseeing and leading WIA/WIOA and Wagner Peyser funded programs throughout several regions of Alaska. Nikki also served as the DEI statewide lead for Alaska working extensively on expanding employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities through implementing an effective statewide Employment Network, was certified as an SSA Benefits Advisor and led a team of staff dedicated to providing benefit planning and financial literacy for individuals with disabilities. Nikki also worked within the University of Alaska system as an educator and coordinator of the Workforce Development Program, worked in the TANF system, and has served on several workgroups and advisory boards focused on increasing opportunities for Competitive Integrated Employment for individuals with disabilities and multiple barriers to employment. Nikki brings both extensive professional experience, and as a parent of a child with a disability, personal knowledge and passion into her work toward positive change.
